There are thousands of scholarships out there. Below you will find many scholarships, most with general eligibility requirements. My goal is to share some lesser-known scholarships with my readers every Saturday.

Description: Scholarship is open to students in kindergarten through graduate school (ages 5-25) who have demonstrated ongoing commitment to their community by performing unpaid volunteer services impacting hunger in the United States within the last 12 months.

Chick-fil-A Community Scholars

Description: Scholarship is open to undergraduate or graduate students or students planning to enroll in undergraduate or graduate study at an accredited two- or four-year college, university or vocational-technical school for the 2025-2026 academic year. Applicant must have shown demonstrated care through community-service in the twelve (12) months prior to application.

NCWIT Award for Aspirations in Computing (AiC)

Description: Scholarship is open to U.S. high school and college women with an interest in computing and technology. College students must attend an NCWIT Academic Alliance institution and major or minor in computing.

NEWH | Mid-South (TN, MS, AR) Region Scholarship
Sponsor: NEWH: The Hospitality Industry Network – Mid-South Region

Description: Scholarship is open to students attending an accredited college in Tennessee, Arkansas, or Mississippi. Applicant must have completed at least half the requirements for a degree and must be pursuing a career objective in the Hospitality industry (Hotel/Restaurant management, Culinary, Food Service, Architecture, Design, etc.)

Larry E. Sitzman Youth in Nebraska Agriculture Scholarship

Description: Scholarship is open to students currently enrolled as a full-time undergraduate or graduate student at a fully accredited college, university or technical college in an agriculture related degree program in Nebraska.

Stand Up to Distracted Driving Scholarship

Description: Scholarship is open to undergraduate and graduate students who will be enroll during the Spring 2025 term. Applicant must submit an essay answering the following prompt: “How has distracted driving affected your life? What ideas do you have to raise awareness of the dangers of distracted driving and prevent this behavior among young drivers?”

Cooke College Scholarship

Description: Scholarship is open to graduating high school seniors who plan to enroll in a four-year college in the fall of 2024. Applicant must have at least a 3.5 GPA and have demonstrated unmet financial need.

Greenhouse Scholars Scholarship

Amount: Up to $5,000 per year for four years

Description: Scholarship is open to graduating high school seniors planning to attend a four-year accredited academic institution. Applicant must demonstrate financial need (annual household income no greater than $80,000) and have a cumulative, unweighted GPA of 3.5 or above. Applicant must be a U.S. citizen or permanent resident and a legal resident of California, Colorado, Georgia, Illinois, New York, or North Carolina.

John Lennon Endowed Scholarship

Description: Scholarship is open to undergraduate students attending a UNCF member institution and majoring in communications, mass communications, mass media arts, music or performing arts.

10 Words or Less Scholarship

Description: Scholarship is open to students between the ages of 14-25 who will be attending school in the Fall of 2024. Applicant must share in 10 words or less why they deserve the scholarship.

ACES Scholarships
Sponsor: American Copy Editors Society (ACES)
Amount: Up to $3,500
Closing Date: November 15, 2024
Description: Scholarship is open to college juniors and seniors, graduate students, and recent college graduates. Applicant must have a commitment to a career in copy editing, exemplary work and academic achievement, and recommendations from teachers and work supervisors. Students in countries other than the United States may apply as well.

Bilingual Therapist Graduate Scholarships

Amount: Up to $5,000

Description: Scholarship is open to bilingual graduate students entering the final year of their graduate program, who speak a second language at native or near-native proficiency and are interested in working with bilingual/bicultural children after graduation.

Cancer Survivors Scholarship

Description: Scholarship is open to accepted and current college and graduate students with at least a 3.0 GPA. Applicant must be a deserving student who not only survived a devastating illness, but now demonstrates a commitment to helping others diagnosed with cancer or another serious illness.

Concerto Competition
Sponsor: United States Marine Band
Amount: Up to $2,500
Closing Date: November 15, 2024
Description: Competition is open to high school musicians (grades 9-12) enrolled during the 2024-2025 academic year. Performers of woodwind, brass, or percussion instructions may apply. Applicant must select one of the works listed on the application for their instrument and submit an audio recording of their performance accompanied by piano, band, or orchestra.

Fields of Corn Photo Contest
Sponsor: National Corn Growers Association
Amount: Up to $500

Description: Contest is open to legal residents of the United States. Applicant must submit a photo that helps tell the story of farming field corn in America.

Help a Hero Scholarship

Description: Scholarship is open to students who are retired, honorably discharged, active duty, or a member of the National Guard or Reserve. Applicant must participate in, be accepted to, or currently enrolled in a VA-approved program or school at an accredited post-secondary institution.

James Alan Cox Foundation Scholarships

Amount: $2,500 for college students and digital camera for high school students

Description: Scholarship is open to college, technical school and graduate school students who are studying photography or photojournalism. Applicant must submit five digital images for still photography submissions or two videos, with a maximum duration of three minutes, for video submissions. High school students wanting to participate should only send in still photography.

Description: Contest is open to students enrolled in grades 6-12 who are currently enrolled in a Catholic school, religious education program, or youth ministry. Applicant must submit an essay on the following prompt: “For the Jubilee next year Pope Francis has invited us to become “pilgrims of hope.” Share a personal story about a time when hope played an important role in your life. Describe the situation, how you felt, and what gave you hope during that time. Explain how this experience impacted you and what you learned about the importance of hope.”

Pursuing Academics with Support (PAWS) Scholarship

Description: Scholarship is open to students currently enrolled in high school or college within the United States with at least a 3.0 GPA. Applicant must be a citizen of, permanent resident, or hold a valid student visa in the United States or Canada. Applicant must have designed an innovative project that makes a difference in the lives of others and submit an essay describing the goal of the particular project and provide supporting documentation.
